The body of the bottle (approximately 45 mL capacity) is ‌a “reaction vessel” in which an accurately measured sample is pipetted into the bott↓le; excess reagent is then added. After the reaction is complete, more reagent is added to raiseπ the “fat column” into the calibrated neck of the bottleλ, where results are read directly as a percentage of fat in the sample.
